1972 Soviet Basketball Team Empty 1972 Soviet Basketball Team

Some "what if" questions...

Much is said about the Soviet "win" in the 1972 Olympics. That Soviet team is said to have played a total of 400 games together. The U.S. team was a collection of college players playing as a team for the first time. The fact that the U.S. team was able to compete with that team showed the quality of U.S. basketball of that era. Our boys against thier men. What if that Soviet team had met the the NBA during that era such as the New York Knicks, the Los Angeles Lakers, the Boston Celtics or the Milwaukee Bucks?

How would the 1972 Soviet team have fared against a US team consisting of Wilt Chamberlin, Jerry West, John Havliecek, Walt Frazier, Oscar Robinson, Dave DeBuschere and Jerry Lucas to name a few.

How would that Soviet team have fared against UCLA?

That was then. Now it appears as though the best players on the other national teams have NBA experience or have played at the NCAA level. The game has gone global.
